Europe's securities settlement platform settles about 93.5 per cent of instructions by volume and 98.0 per cent by value, and the two have been moving apart since 2022
| Year | Efficiency by volume | Efficiency by value | Daily transactions | Daily value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 94.51% | 94.35% | 687,476 | 672.53bn euro |
| 2021 | 94.34% | 94.07% | 726,271 | 691.10bn euro |
| 2022 | 93.74% | 93.29% | 707,879 | 716.67bn euro |
| 2023 | 94.32% | 95.71% | 699,868 | 790.34bn euro |
| 2024 | 94.4% | 97.7% | 791,416 | 972.4bn euro |
| 2025 | 93.5% | 98.0% | 922,533 | 1,101.4bn or 1,104.4bn euro |
European Central Bank annual reports on the securities settlement platform. The 2025 daily value is a genuine source conflict: 1,101.4 billion euro in the annual report and 1,104.4 billion on the central bank's own facts page. Both are printed and neither is preferred.
Volume efficiency has drifted down from 94.5 per cent in 2020 while value efficiency has risen from 94.4 to 98.0. Failures are concentrating in smaller instructions. A methodology break means readings before 2020 are not comparable.
