Collateral mobilised at the end of 2022, in billions of euro, after valuation and haircuts. This is the only year for which a breakdown by asset class is published. The classes sum to 2,473 billion against a stated total of 2,500 billion, a residual of 27 billion that the publisher does not explain.

Eligible marketable collateral reached 20.3 trillion euro at the end of 2025 while collateral actually mobilised stood at 1.6 trillion. The composition of what banks pledge is published for one year only, and loans rather than bonds were the largest single class.
