Each pair comes from two consecutive annual statistical reports on the same quantity at the same reference date. None is averaged and none is preferred. The 2019 restatement is documented by the supervisor itself: the later report expressly records that the previous report's figure was 681 trillion euro.

Brexit removed United Kingdom reports from the dataset, so the fourth quarter of 2019 exists at two values a factor of 2.68 apart. One United Kingdom fine eight years earlier was about 220 times the union's entire annual reporting total.
