European settlement penalties ran at about 127 million euro a month and the post trade window is about to fall from a day to two hours
| Misura | Figura | Source basis |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly average penalty value, European Economic Area | 127,258,663 euro | regulator, March 2023 to February 2024 |
| Monthly penalty value on the main platform, 2022 | about 141.61 million euro | central bank |
| Same, 2023 | about 70.43 million euro | central bank |
| Monthly penalty count, 2022 | about 1,075,222 | central bank |
| Same, 2023 | 795,654, ranging 668,655 to 957,690 | central bank |
| Average per penalty | 88.52 euro, and 57.87 in krone | central bank, 2023 |
| Share below five euro | 80 to 90 percent | a banking group |
The regulator's European figure and the central bank's platform figure differ by a factor of about 1.78 for overlapping periods, because the populations differ. Both are reported. One industry report's figure of 12.9 million for 2022 is a count of penalties, not a euro amount, and it reproduces the central bank's monthly count almost exactly.
One day settlement applies from 11 October 2027. The window between trade and settlement goes from roughly 22 to 26 hours to about two, against four and a half hours in the United States.
