Two different rejection rates are published and they differ by three orders of magnitude. One counts whole files thrown out as malformed before any processing; the other counts individual records inside accepted files thrown out on validation. A figure quoted as "the rejection rate" without saying which one is meaningless.

The record level rejection rate started at 20 per cent on 29 April 2024 and fell to between one and two and a half per cent by February 2025, which is still above the 1.4 per cent average that prevailed under the regime it replaced.
