Directive 2014/49/EU and Directive (EU) 2026/804 of 30 March 2026. Article 6(1) applies from 4 July 2015; the amendment applies from 11 May 2028.
The 2014 directive protects such balances for three to twelve months and leaves the amount to national law, which now ranges from 200,000 euro to unlimited. A 2026 amendment sets a floor of 500,000 euro for six months.
